So the winter chill continues. I feel like this cold weather is way overstaying its welcome. Rude, rude winter.
Sunday
One of my dearest friends hosted a clothing swap last fall and this heart sweater guy is one of my finds there. Everyone walked away with fantastic things and she was kind enough to haul the unwanted items to goodwill.
P.S.- Clothing swaps=best thing ever! It was really fun to see things that didn’t quite work on me completely work on someone else.
Ready for the cold…again. BOO!
Tuesday– Boyfriend’s back!!! 😀
The boy was away snowboarding in Utah for a few days. He came back Tuesday on the red-eye (eek!) and then saw me (smile)- I missed him like a crazy person.
Despite the chilly weather I wanted to feel pretty and like spring. So voila new guys: translucent white blouse (bought here), peasant skirt (bought here) and some pretty things around my neck. I DID wear fleece tights under the skirt and my normal winter uniform of heavy coat, scarf, and hat, but fun to have a secret spring going on under the winter wear.
Thursday
I had a good friend in from Chicago and she knew the assistant director of Driving Miss Daisy on Broadway starring Vanessa Redgrave, James Earl Jones, and Boyd Gaines. So we went out to support his efforts :).
I really really enjoyed this show. The play is full of wonderful moments and I felt privileged to see such stellar actors on stage.
There are a million wonderful and extraordinary things to do in NY and though I live here and have grown up here I still feel like I’ve hardly tackled even the littlest bit.
The maxi dress is another swap score. Seeeeee swaps are the best! Have one with your friends!
Driving Miss Daisy is only on for another 11 days and I highly recommend seeing it if you happen to find yourself in NY.
Saturday-A gazillion good things.
Yeah, I looooove this shirt. It’s brand new and I’ve worn it twice already in completely different ways. You can see it over a maxi dress here.
Portrait shoot with besties (more on that another day!); milkshakes at Stand with the bro; b’day party #1-80’s / Salsa; late dinner at Veselka’s (HAVE THE REUBEN); b’day party #2-downtown drinks and dancing.
So it was a busy busy Saturday, but full of great things. Hope yours was the same!
P.S.- in all my outfit posts there is this big fat yellow book, lol. I feel like I need to address it at this point. So THIS is the book:
It is NOT on my night stand for decorative purposes. When I’ve had a difficult day at work and I am brooding over it lying in bed, I read an essay from this book and it reminds me that I am lucky. Not all the stories in the collection are tragically difficult, but for me glimpsing into the day of a job that I could not imagine doing, and lives that are so so different from mine really zaps my perspective in the right direction.
