I’m a bit of a serial bag monogamist. I tend to get incredibly infatuated with one bag and love it till it falls apart then move on to the next.
At the moment I’m obsessed with this tote that my dear mamacita gave me years ago.
I am loving the message, the strong graphic lettering, and the red, white and blue. The quote on the bag is by John F. Kennedy.
My mama has spent her life trying to make a difference as a social worker in really tough areas of the field. From foster care to HIV/AIDS she really does make a HUGE difference in the world one person at a time.
Despite working in media I’ve spent my life volunteering for various causes and I really think that sense of responsibility to community and contributing to the world was instilled by my mama and her dedication to her work.
Back to my bag of the moment! The tote actually has several little interior pockets like a normal purse might, so it makes for a great everyday bag option for me. I don’t really know why I never wore it before but now I can’t seem to take it off.
The rest of my outfit: top-mango; faux leather shorts-espirit; shoes urban outfitters; jewelry gifted.
I love leather like detailing in outfits. I think they add a dash of sexy and edge. Unfortunately there is a very small window of time to wear these guys because soon it will be waaaaay too hot for leather shorts.
So friends, are you a bag monogamist?
That is so so awesome of your mom! That is a great quote, though one I’ve found that I struggle to get consensus on. Apparently a lot of people *don’t* think one person can make a difference, and so I shouldn’t even bother trying. That, in fact, has been the message drilled into me by one too many. Though… that’s not to say I’ve listened. =D
I LOVE that bag; the message makes it so special! Your mom sounds like an AMAZING woman; I can see where your great spirit come from!
Those leather shorts are hot! I love that you paired them with an oversized top, for subtle sexiness.
I love the bag, the quote and the story behind it! Like I always say, one of the things I admire about you so much is that incredible sense of responsibility to the community you speak of. Really inspiring to do good. Also I love your leather shorts, I wore mine the other day with wedges and then later with flats and I think flats are the way to go. As far as bags go, I tend to rotate between two or so until they are no more. Lovely post my friend!
Your Mum and her work – amazing, hats off! It makes the bag even more meaningful.
You look great in shorts and this top is so nice, it looks so comfy. π
Funnily enough I’m constantly buying bags, so I’m definitely not a bag monogamist. 90% of them are from thrift stores though, so they don’t hurt my wallet much. π
i love that bag and quote! very cool.
I commend you and your mother for doing so much for others! And yet, I’m not surprised. π
LOVE the bag. What a great quote.!!
and leather shorts WOW awesome!!
You must be so proud of your mom! That tote is so cute, too – I am a bit of a bag monogamist as well! π
