What I Wore-Pattern Here and There

I really love the look of pattern mixing, but I have yet to do it in a really bold way á la Zarna or print mixing guru Anika.

Zarna of Zarna’s Runway

Anika of By Anika

(P.S.-these ladies are amazing, if you don’t follow their blogs really you are missing out. Zarna is a sweetheart she’s gorgeous and showcases the style gamut and Anika…oh Anika, the most inspirational voice on the blogsphere for me. Check them out!)

So Zarna and Anika have mastered print mixing, I have NOT…yet! Every time I try to mix patterns in my outfit I take a step back and look in the mirror and decide it looks like a hot mess! BUT! I really do love the look and have been dipping my toe (hmm, kind of literal) in pattern mixing by having some shoe fun :).

I saw this jumper on Etsy back in February and bought it with summer in mind. Here’s a better picture from Lost Feather Vintage.

I looove the mix of prints in the dress and this garment has a really easy feel with pockets and a loose fit. I accidentally shrank this dress in the dryer but I’m so happy that happened because it fits a bit better, although it’s a wee bit short now (but I gots no problem with short ;)). The color is not as bright as this but not as earthy as my image…it’s right in between.

To add my own pattern mixing I paired the dress with my leopard flats bought on my trip to London last winter.

There is a new jewelry situation!!! You might have noticed that most of my jewelry is gifted in my outfit posts. I really love wearing jewelry that is meaningful-it makes me really happy and it keeps those people close to me as I go about my day. I would say 90% of the jewelry I wear are gifted from dear friends and family.

The leaf ring is from my mama, a birthday gift from a few years back…my NEW guy is the red bracelet with the gold cross. My dad brought it back as a souvenir from his recent vacation in Bulgaria.

I’m not usually a red person but I really love the bright poppy color of this little bracelet.

So friends, do you pattern mix?!

Ohhh yes! Anika is amazing at pattern-mixing! I think you did a great job yourself. It’s great to start somewhere right? The dress is really beautiful by the way, very Summer-e indeed!

I must admit I’m not much of a pattern girl, beyond stripes! But I am intending to change that this season and I can’t wait to experiment!

You look amazing, your hair in particular looks fab 🙂

this is a great topic for discussion! I must admit I’m no master myself when it comes to mixing prints. I always want to and then chicken out. I would really like to figure it out because I just love the look. I LOVE Anika but I have yet to visit Zarna. Thanks for the tip my friend!

I love pattern mixing, though I don’t do it a lot (I’m more of a color mixing kind of gal). Nonetheless, you are super cute in your mixed patterns! Shoes are a fabulous way to mix prints. I’m not big on red, but that beautiful bracelet your dad brought back for you is amazing!

Thanks for introducing me to Zarna’s blog too!!

Haha love the photos! I have definitely not mastered pattern mixing. So I don’t do it. Then again frankly I’m more of a solid black kinda gal myself. =( Will definitely need to be more adventurous! Love all your jewelry and accessories btw!

I do that a lot, I love leopard print shoes and love mixing it with other prints, it’s a lot of fun and not everyone will go for the combination 🙂
I really like the combo you did here, and those shoes are sooo pretty.

I am a master pattern mixer. I treat it like poetry and the colors and pattern play are the rhyme scheme. So of course I adore Anika (for more than just her amazing mixes!) and now have to check out this gorgeous Zarna creature. Your outfit is adorable and I believe you are well on your well to mastering the power of print!

You are so cute:-) I used to do a lot more pattern mixing when I was younger, i.e. a funky plaid pant with some cool graphic tee and black and white pattern shoe. I should most def try this out again just for fun.
