I mentioned a couple of weeks ago that I’m a little obsessed with gold right now. It is a trend that was spotted on many a Spring 2012 runway and I was definitely inspired by it. Gold is fun, sexy, urban, and chic all at the same time for me :).

So this friends is my first installment of “Consciously Trending”. I’ve made a little resolution to myself that I can and will try my best to shop for all the things on my wanted list ethically and I really do believe you can find even the most current of trends in a second hand or in a more conscious retail outlet and it doesn’t have to break the bank!
Case in point!
I found the perfect gold sequins for me! Definitely gold and sparkly but with a very simple cut that works well with an assortment of bottoms. This guy will be very easy to dress up or down. I swear as I was evaluating it’s sparkliness in the mirror 3 different sets of people stopped to urge me to buy it…like I needed the encouragment-thrilled :).
I thrifted this lovely blouse from CauZ for PawZ for $7.99.
(jeans-h&m; boot-gifted; blouse-cauz for pawz)
I’m wearing the blouse tucked in here, but it’s actually pretty long…borderline dress for me (you know friends, I enjoy a short hemline). So I’m thinking of cutting/hemming it to a waist length blouse OR adding a couple of inches of fabric (I have some scrap faux leather) to the bottom to make it a dress. Thoughts? OH! Did I mention I also bought it in black sequins?! There they were hanging together and I couldn’t leave one behind.
Add the scraps to the bottom, see if you like it as a dress, and if you don’t THEN hem it. Best of both worlds!

That is a gorgeous top! Yes, I’ve been eying a lot of gold glittery things lately. I definitely agree that you should see if you can make a dress out of it first. If that doesn’t work than you can always shorten it. 🙂

I love that the blouse is longer so that you can wear it multiple ways. Always a winner! I’m into gold colour apparel, and have seen loads of great items with a golden touch. You look sassy J! I’d also agree with you on finding trends presently in charity or secondhand shops, I definitely -xx
I definitely appreciate gold more than I used to! I really love your sequined gold blouse. Sparkly always makes any day brighter 🙂
I love you in gold! You look so happy and smiley. Wear this color alllll the time. The way you tucked the shirt in is really cute. Since I’m short, I totally understand tops that are WAY too long.

Fabulous, as always! Your outfit posts always inspire me to go thrift shopping. I say, go for the blouse idea. You might get more use out of it that way.
p.s. I emailed you a few days ago and I’m hoping I sent it to the right email address! Anyway, if it happens that if I DID send it to the right one, then take your time in answering back, no rush. But if it turns out I didn’t, let me know you didn’t get it so I can send it to you again asap!

Love the gold sequin blouse/dress. You could wear it like a tunic with leggings if you don’t have time to hem it.

Oh wow – it’s fabulous! hehe love the movement in the outfit photos. Hmm I’d maybe go shorter with it then you could pair with a leather skirt if you wanted to wear it for a night on the town. Turning it into a dress might limit it? Great job!
