Tarte LipSurgence Skintuitve Lip Tint Energy- $24 and Yes to Carrots Color Balm Rosy Bloom-$5.99
So these are my two summer go to’s for lips this year! In general I’m a pretty low maintenance girl and in the summer I am even lower maintenance. These two options are totally no brainers and always manage to work and are of course cruelty free.
For reference, my lips are pretty mauvy and naturally have a deep color.
Colors really do look different on different people so keep in mind If your lips are fairer or darker these colors may be different on you.
Yes to Carrots Color Balm-Rosy Bloom
Review: I use this practically everyday. It doesn’t give my lips that much color but it really does give enough to even out my lip color and add a shade of pink which I think is really pretty and it’s actually moisturizing.
Also, since my lips are a deep color I love that this Yes to Carrots Lip Balm makes them seem brighter and it still looks natural.
Cons: I wish that it held up a little better and the application feels a tad waxy
Verdict: I really do use this all the time! And want to try the other colors! DEFINITE buy again for me!
Tarte LipSurgence Skintuitive Lip Tint
Review: I think Tarte LipSurgence Skintuitve Lip Tint might be magical. It is by far my favorite of the Tarte lip line. The shade adapts to your lip ph balance and turns it a specific shade of pink ANNNNNDD the color gets deeper as you add coats.
In the image set above the first picture is one coat, the second picture is two coats and the third picture has three coats, so you can see how the color can progress from just ate a popsicle to fuscia. It is also super super moisturizing and while the moisture doesn’t last that long the color does.
P.S.-Go check out this review and this review on Tarte’s LipSurgence Skintuitive Lip Tint! Will show you how different the color can change depending on the lips :). These shades are so different than mine!
Cons: I wish the shade turned a tad faster. Sometimes I over apply and end up with the deepest shade, which is not always my intention.
Verdict: I’ve already bought this guy twice!! It’s perfect for when I want a little extra oomph.
I bought my Tart LipSurgence Skintuitive Lip Tint on the Tarte website, they were totally out for months at Sephora, but it looks like it may be available now. My Yes to Carrots Color Balm was purchased at my local Walgreens, so it could be at yours too!
Do you have any go to summer colors to share?
I looove Tarte! But I’ve been trying to keep my beauty budget to drugstore-range, so I’m REALLY excited to know about the Yes to Carrots lip balms! I shop the brand at Ulta typically and I’ve never seen lip products, so I’ll definitely check my local drugstore. Thanks for this post, lovely!
I’ve heard great things about Tarte lip pencils – I must try them soon! The color looks really great on you and I like that you can layer for more color!

These both look so great on you!! I’m a huge fan of Yes to Carrots (or Pomegranates or Tomatoes or whichever line!) for cruelty free skin care, and am now curious to try the Tarte Lip Tint. Sometimes it’s nice to have that extra bit of color and the layering really sounds like fun! Thanks for the suggestions!
I love Tarte but I’ve never tried any of their lip products! This one looks and sounds great!
I love the Tarte lip pencils, but haven’t bought one yet. I have about 5 of the Revlon knock offs, but I’m not sure if Revlon is cruelty free. I think it’s a grey area with them.
