So a while ago I walked out to lunch with a coworker and a bumped into these wonderfully happy women dressed in purple and red (see moment on instagram :D) and my coworker exclaimed, “Cute! Like that poem!” and I had no idea what she was talking about. I got back to my desk and the poem “Warning” by Jenny Joseph was waiting in my inbox and I just fell in love with it.
Something about the rhythm in the writing really sat with me and the bittersweet/ mischievous/ happy sentiment really struck a chord in me. One of my besties and I often talk about how he’s going to start wearing suspenders and I’m going to dye my hair pink and wear flower hats when we get of a certain age…doesn’t that sound like fun?!?
Well, The Ladies of the Red Hat Society are already ahead of me! Inspired by “Warning” they take to the streets in purple and red bringing smiles and joy everywhere they go.

Have you heard of the Red Hat Society before? I had not until they literally walked right in front of me! But, I love their spirit! And hope to see them again soon…this time I’ll let them know I may be joining them :D.
Have a wonderful Saturday, friends!

Love it! I have heard of them, and I actually think purple and red is a gorgeous combo 🙂
I’ve known about them for many years! I think there must have been a posse near my hometown. They’re pretty cute!

Yes! One of the Brooklyn thrift stores always has red hat pins in their jewelry case, too. I love seeing that stuff.
